Gratitude affirmations are the most potent among spiritual practices.

It has taken me the farthest in raising my vibration, feeling good, and creating overall happiness.

Spiritual teachers like Esther Abraham-Hicks teach us that manifesting the life we want is an inside job that starts with the self. True long-term happiness can never manifest externally; you have to cultivate the vibration of your desires internally first.

Gratitude is like the sister emotion to abundance. The more you can thank, appreciate, and be grateful for what you already have, the more of what you want comes to you, and you’ll feel good along the way.

One important thing to mention is that when we are in a dark place and our gratitude account is low, reading an article like this can trigger us and make us feel bad for lacking gratitude when we desperately want it. Just keep working on your internal state of gratitude and well-being, and gratitude will start multiplying.

Why is Gratitude So Powerful?

Gratitude is powerful because it is the emotion that helps us be present and not take things, people, and opportunities for granted. It also alleviates suffering and expands abundance. It is the one emotion that has the power to transmute, preserve, and accelerate all other emotions—both positive and negative. This means that gratitude can expand and cause an upward spiral, and lacking gratitude can also destroy and cause a downward spiral.

The 3 Powers of Gratitude

Power 1: Gratitude Transmutes. Our wounds and pains are our greatest teachers. For example, when you are going through a low moment in life, gratitude is the emotion that helps you look for the lesson and grow.

Power 2: Gratitude Preserves because it has the power to keep you persistent, patient, and focused. For example, when you’re amid an unappealing circumstance, let’s say, a job you abhor. You instinctively know you have the power to create change, so you count your blessings and are less likely to complain and focus on creating change.

Power 3: Gratitude Expands, Multiplies, and Accelerates other emotions, especially abundance. As mentioned earlier, the more thankful you are, the more energy of gratitude comes back to you.

Moreover, gratitude is also the entry point to higher emotions such as happiness, love, bliss, and joy. If you are interested in finding states of overall happiness, joy, love, and bliss in your life, learn more about Dr. David R. Hawkins’s Map of Consciousness.

Lastly, gratitude is not toxic positivity. Toxic positivity is being positive just to be positive and overlooking the pain and frustrations one might experience. Don’t use gratitude as a way to gaslight yourself when you’re experiencing negative emotions. Always be honest with yourself, acknowledge where you are, and understand your lower emotions; they hold a lot of answers and wisdom for your life.

With gratitude, you’ll still experience pain and frustration. The difference is you acknowledge your pain and alleviate your suffering (prolonged pain) by becoming good at mining for the lessons to grow.

What are Gratitude Affirmations?

Affirmations are positive phrases we repeat aloud or write out to overcome a limiting belief and ingrain a new positive belief. If you already have an affirmation practice, adding on a couple of gratitude affirmations will amplify your other affirmations.

Read The Magic by Rhonda Byrnes. I love this book! It’s a simple and easy book to read. She did not leave any stone unturned and covered every area of life and more.

She reminds us of the little things we tend to forget—gratitude for ourselves, our jobs, and the simple things in life. She also includes gratitude exercises at the end of each chapter.

It’s also a great holiday or birthday gift for anyone who loves spirituality
